A 44-property block for one meeting
AGU26 puts the American Geophysical Union's annual meeting at the Moscone Center, 747 Howard Street, from 7 to 11 December 2026. AGU's meeting page calls it the largest gathering of Earth and space scientists, and puts it at 25,000+ attendees from 100+ countries. The meeting's press release reads more than 24,000 attendees.
The housing block for the week holds 44 hotel properties. The list runs from the W San Francisco at 0.1 miles from the centre, through the InterContinental San Francisco and the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SOMA at 0.2 miles and the San Francisco Marriott Marquis at 0.3 miles, to Hotel Zephyr Fisherman's Wharf and Hotel Riu Plaza at 2.5 miles. The median property on the list sits 0.7 miles from Moscone. Three sit within a quarter mile, 13 within half a mile and 33 within a mile.
The block closes 19 November 2026, 18 days before arrival. The block page publishes a starting rate for each property, from $199 at Hotel Fusion to $295 at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco. Sixteen of the 44 properties sat marked sold out at this desk's read on 16 October 2026.
The science stays in one building
The meeting's online programme carries 2,267 session and event records across 6 to 11 December. Of those, 2,220 sit at the Moscone Center. The daily load runs from 37 records on Sunday 6 December to 516 on Monday 7 December, then 501 on Tuesday, 507 on Wednesday and 483 on Thursday, before tapering to 223 on Friday 11 December, when the meeting closes at 1:00 PM Pacific.
By format, 1,016 records are oral sessions and 993 are posters. Town halls account for 81, GeoBurst sessions 35, scientific workshops 29, AGU Central sessions 28, networking and social events 25, section events 22, editorial board meetings 12, affiliated events five, policy sessions four and workshops four.
A convention centre carrying 2,220 of 2,267 records absorbs the attendance on its own floors. The dispersal that matters to a group seller runs through the other 47.
Two hotels carry the meeting's non-science programme
The San Francisco Marriott Marquis at 780 Mission Street holds 38 records. The InterContinental San Francisco at 888 Howard Street holds eight. One more record, the Editors' Evening Dinner and Reception, sits at Harborview Restaurant & Bar.
The Marriott Marquis schedule carries the AGU Welcome Reception in the Yerba Buena and Golden Gate Ballrooms on 8 December and the Honors Celebration in the Yerba Buena Ballroom on 9 December. It also carries the AGU Fellows Town Hall on 10 December, the section student and early-career luncheons and mentorship events, editorial board breakfasts, NSF NCAR affiliated sessions in Sierra A-B and Sierra G-H, and a free legal advice clinic in the Walnut room across 7 to 10 December.
The InterContinental carries the AGU Council Meeting in Grand Ballroom BC on 6 December, then the section student and early-career mentorship events on 7 December across InterContinental Ballroom A, B and C, Grand Ballroom A, Grand Ballroom BC and the Union Square room. The President's Reception coat check sits in the Laurel Hill room on 6 December.
What the dispersal asks of a seller
A delegate who wants the ballroom programme books the Marriott Marquis or the InterContinental, both inside a third of a mile of the centre. A delegate who takes the Fisherman's Wharf tail books 2.5 miles out. The block covers 33 properties within a mile of the centre and a waterfront tail beyond it.
The five nights run Monday 7 December to Saturday 12 December. The programme runs Sunday 6 to Friday 11, with 37 records on the Sunday pre-day and a 1:00 PM Pacific close on the Friday.
