What Finishes and When
Clear Path 465 is more than 90% complete, and the project expects construction to wrap up in late 2026. Two milestones remain inside the I-69/I-465 interchange. One is the new ramp from eastbound I-465 to northbound I-69. The other is the new ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to westbound I-465.
The eastbound connection to northbound I-69 is the movement group coaches have routed around. The project describes a new two-lane ramp for the direct connection, plus a separate ramp for eastbound I-465 traffic exiting to 82nd Street.
What Changed This Year
A new ramp opened around 6 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, carrying eastbound I-465 and northbound Binford Boulevard traffic directly to 82nd Street. The 82nd Street exit then closed to drivers who enter northbound I-69 from northbound I-465, and the project expects it to reopen in late 2026.
Southbound I-69 moved into its final configuration on or after Monday, September 21, 2026, which restored access to westbound I-465 and southbound Binford Boulevard from the 82nd Street ramp.
The ramp from westbound 56th Street to northbound I-465 reopened on the morning of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after crews opened additional lanes on northbound I-465.
The speed limit on eastbound I-465 between Keystone Avenue and 56th Street/Shadeland Avenue rose from 45 to 55 mph beginning on or after August 17, 2026.
Coach Routing on the Current Roadway
Overnight work runs from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The window published for September 23 to 24, 2026 lists a single lane closure on I-465 southbound between 75th Street and Fall Creek and on I-465 northbound between Fall Creek and 75th Street. On September 24, 82nd Street narrows to one lane in each direction under I-69, and the eastbound I-465 ramp to southbound Binford Boulevard closes.
The ramp from southbound I-69 to southbound Binford Boulevard stays at one lane from mid-September through mid-October for barrier wall installation.
Northbound Binford Boulevard took daytime lane restrictions and overnight closures on September 10, 2026 while crews rebuild its intersection with 75th Street to accommodate the new ramps.
The project's standard detour for the interchange ramps routes traffic to southbound I-465 and a turnaround at Pendleton Pike, U.S. 36. It served the eastbound I-465 closure to northbound I-69 from August 22 to August 24, 2026.
The Northeast Side Venue Map
Distances are straight-line, computed from OpenStreetMap coordinates and measured from the I-69 alignment at Castleton. Fort Harrison State Park Inn at 5830 North Post Road is about 3.7 miles away. Marriott Indianapolis North at 3645 River Crossing Parkway is about 2.9 miles away and the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing at 8787 Commerce Crossing about 3.1 miles. The Castleton cluster runs from the Hampton Inn Indianapolis NE/Castleton at 6817 East 82nd Street, about 0.2 miles away, to the Courtyard Indianapolis Castleton at 8670 Allisonville Road, about 1.5 miles away, with the Drury Inn & Suites Indianapolis Northeast at 8180 North Shadeland Avenue between them. North of the interchange, the Residence Inn Indianapolis Fishers at 9765 Crosspoint Boulevard is about 2.0 miles away and the Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Northeast/Fishers at 9785 North by Northeast Boulevard about 2.2 miles.
Two trail assets carry 2026 dates. The Nickel Plate Trail stays closed while crews build the new interchange, and a reconstructed portion is expected to open in fall 2026. The 71st Street Trail stays open most of the time with intermittent closures while crews finish the I-465 bridges over it.
Access Language for a 2027 Agreement
Four clauses cover the published risk.
Name both remaining ramps in the agreement, and require written notice within 24 hours of any INDOT schedule change that affects arrivals.
Set coach arrival and departure outside the 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. closure window. Hold a second load zone that avoids the northbound Binford Boulevard loop ramp.
Write the closure caveat into the force majeure and cancellation sections: “Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.”
Require the venue to pass on project notices for the event week. The project team answers through INDOT customer service on 1-855-463-6848.
What to Request Before Signing
Four documents settle the rest. The property's coach staging and load-zone plan. The event week's closure calendar in writing from the project team. A venue statement on its own driveways and secondary access route. Confirmation of the opening date for the eastbound I-465 to northbound I-69 ramp and the reopening date for the Binford Boulevard loop ramp.
