FOG FORUM: a January slot for design practices

FOG FORUM is the fair's membership programme for design practices, at $3,000 for two gala seats and ten fair tickets, or $6,000 for four gala seats and twenty fair tickets with a year of SFMOMA corporate membership. The 2027 fair runs 21 to 24 January at Fort Mason Center inside a nine-day art week.

FOG FORUM is the membership programme FOG Design+Art offers to design practices. The 2027 edition runs Thursday, January 21 to Sunday, January 24, 2027 at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture across Piers 2 and 3.

Two levels, one price ladder

FOG FORUM costs $3,000. The level carries two Preview Gala tickets with early entry at 5 p.m., ten tickets to the fair, two tickets to a dedicated reception for FOG FORUM members at the fair, two tickets to an SFMOMA event for members at the museum, and one colour half page in the fair's catalogue.

FOG FORUM+ costs $6,000. The level carries a one-year SFMOMA Corporate Membership with free museum admission and invitations to events through the year, four Preview Gala tickets with early entry at 5 p.m., twenty tickets to the fair, the same reception and museum tickets, a curator-led tour of the fair, brand recognition on the media wall, and one colour full page in the catalogue.

The two levels scale the gala seats and the fair tickets by two at twice the fee. The catalogue placement moves from a half page to a full page. The corporate membership, the curator-led tour and the media-wall recognition sit on the upper level alone.

The audience the programme is built for

The programme engages architects, industrial designers, interior designers, landscape architects and residential contractors. Douglas Durkin, a member of the FOG Steering Committee, founded and chairs it. SFMOMA's Helen Hilton Raiser Curator and Head of Architecture and Design, Jennifer Dunlop Fletcher, and the museum's Curator of Art and Design, Joseph Becker, champion it. The programme raises funds for SFMOMA's Architecture and Design department.

The catalogue page has a November deadline

Both levels include a page in the FOG Design+Art catalogue, and the deadline is fixed. Submissions must be digital and must reach fogforum@sfmoma.org by November 13, 2026. The FOG Steering Committee approves every submission.

The half page builds to 5.5 by 4.25 inches trimmed, inside a 4.5 by 3.75 inch live area. The full page builds to 5.5 by 8.5 inches trimmed, inside a 4.5 by 7.5 inch live area. Placed images need 300 dpi, trim marks and a quarter-inch bleed, saved as a press-optimized PDF or a CMYK JPEG.

A nine-day frame around a four-day fair

SF Art Week returns for its fourth edition from Saturday, January 16 to Sunday, January 24, 2027. The fair opens on the Thursday of that week and closes it on the Sunday. A practice that arrives for the art week's Saturday opening and leaves on the Monday after the fair books nine nights.

SF Art Week publishes a participant list, a map, a program and a neighborhood guide for the week. It lists museums, galleries, non-profit organizations and creative spaces as hosts. The San Francisco Chronicle's arts and culture writer Tony Bravo supplies the line the art week quotes on its own site: the third week of January has become an unofficial art week in San Francisco.

The fair works inside that week as one destination among several. Its own release describes the programme as leading international art and design galleries, prominent 20th-century and contemporary design dealers, and a weekend of programs.

Pricing the fair alone

A practice that buys fair admission on its own works from the fair's 2027 ladder. A single-day ticket runs $40 in advance and $45 after January 20, 2027. A four-day pass runs $115 in advance and $120 after the same date.

Senior tickets run $35 and $40 with valid ID. Student tickets cost $5 with valid ID. Children 12 and under enter free. Online sales open in mid-November, and tickets are also sold at the door. The fair's ticket page still prints the 2026 edition, so the 2027 ladder comes from the fair's release.

Twenty four-day passes at the advance price come to $2,300. Twenty single-day tickets at the advance price come to $800. FOG FORUM carries ten fair tickets at $3,000 and FOG FORUM+ carries twenty at $6,000 alongside their other listed items.

One ticket covers both venues of the fair. The release states that admission includes entry to the FOG Pavilion and FOG FOCUS and access to FOG Talks.

The venue a design practice is buying into

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture sits on the northern waterfront between Aquatic Park and the Marina Green. The address is 2 Marina Boulevard, and the campus entrance is off Buchanan Street. The venue's own site counts 1.5 million annual visitors and nearly two dozen non-profit and arts organizations as permanent residents.

The 2027 fair adds a lounge and a full-service dining experience by A16 on the second storey that FOG FOCUS takes for the first time. The release also credits Bloomberg with support for several nonprofit galleries among the FOG FOCUS presentations.

MUNI lines 28, 30, 30X, 43 and 49 serve the campus, and Golden Gate Transit stops at Lombard and Fillmore Streets.

What no level carries

No FOG FORUM level carries a hotel room, a group rate, a cut-off date or a named partner property. The fair's own pages carry no hotel or lodging listing.

For a design practice the purchase is a January slot in the fair's own programme, two gala seats or four, and a catalogue page that closes on November 13, 2026. The nine-day art week runs around it.
