Two Booking Clocks for 2027 Group Business
Indianapolis publishes two opening dates that group sales teams can work from. The Indiana Convention Center's sixth expansion and the attached Signia by Hilton Indianapolis carry a December 2026 target. Visit Indy puts the pair at $710 million.
Hilton's reservations release of April 21, 2026 states that stays are bookable from December 9, 2026. The convention center's repost of that release and Visit Indy's project page both carry February 1, 2027 as the first stay date. Both readings sit on the publishers' own sites.
Confirm the first contracted stay date with the hotel's sales office before you build a 2027 block against either one.
What Opens in December
The Capital Improvement Board owns and operates the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium. Visit Indy puts the expansion at 143,500 square feet of meeting space with a 50,000-square-foot ballroom. The convention center describes the largest ballroom in the state, an added junior ballroom, and a skywalk connection over Capitol Avenue. Its project page states that the addition makes two citywide conventions at one time possible.
The board places the hotel at 800 connected rooms. The convention center's project page and Visit Indy both publish 803 rooms. The hotel stands 38 stories.
Hilton describes 100,000 square feet of meeting space across 42 rooms. The anchor is a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, divisible into 12 sections. Two further ballrooms span 16,000 square feet and 9,000 square feet, and a 7,500-square-foot outdoor event deck sits on the property. The convention center lists the room-by-room figures as a 50,455-square-foot Grand Ballroom, a 15,668-square-foot Junior Ballroom and a 9,000-square-foot Signature Ballroom.
Seventy suites run from 450 to 1,900 square feet. Seven dining concepts, a rooftop pool and a performance and recovery center open with the hotel.
Which Accounts the Capacity Reaches
Hilton's release, citing Visit Indy, reports $1.3 billion in retained convention business and $1 billion in interest in new bookings, with groups reserving space as far out as 2036. Visit Indy named the American Society of Safety Professionals as a June 2030 citywide, with a 10,000-person general session in the Signia Grand Ballroom and $11.5 million in projected impact.
The convention center attributes almost $300 million in annual economic impact to retaining the FFA, FDIC and NTEA conventions. HVS puts the expansion at $232 million in new events and nearly 2,900 jobs. The convention center projects $69.3 million in new business from the hotel's sales teams.
Space Holds Across the Complex
The center publishes 11 exhibit halls at 566,600 contiguous square feet and 71 meeting rooms. Its director of sales and marketing, Monique Wise, told Meetings Today that the exhibit halls give the venue 566,600 square feet of continuous meeting space. HVS, in its September 8, 2025 downtown note, ties the added capacity to compression across the downtown hotel market.
Connected inventory is published several ways. Hilton states that the skywalk brings the downtown total to 12 connected hotels with more than 5,200 rooms. HVS counts more than 5,500 rooms linked by skywalk once the project completes. Visit Indy's new-developments page puts the total at 13 properties and 5,500 rooms under one roof. Each figure is that publisher's own count.
How Room Blocks Read
The board and Hilton publish no group rate floor, no minimum-stay rule and no shoulder-night policy for 2027. Write those into the RFP as line items and get them back in writing.
Where to File
Visit Indy takes citywide RFPs through an online form or an uploaded document. Its sales team answers at sales@VisitIndy.com and 317.262.3000. The Signia's group desk takes inquiries at inddi-salesadm@hilton.com.
The construction record supports a 2027 citywide. Hilton reported the project 62 percent complete at the October 3, 2025 topping-out, with more than 2,300 construction jobs created. The City-County Council approved $625 million in hotel revenue bonds, and the city took over project financing.
What the RFP Should Ask
Ask the board and the hotel to confirm the first contracted stay date and the ballroom's 12-section divider plan. Ask for the hold period on the junior and signature ballrooms and the suite count reserved for group use.
Ask Denison Parking, which operates every convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium lot, for coach staging capacity across your dates. Ask the convention center's event coordinator for the skywalk access hours, which follow the event schedule and shut down around 11 p.m. on a standard night.
Ask Visit Indy for the compression window around FFA, FDIC and NTEA. Those three set the weekday rate picture, and the answer decides which 2027 weeks can hold a new citywide without rate pressure.
