Four closed blocks on the first Sunday in October
The 52nd Annual Castro Street Fair runs Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Castro and Market Streets. The organiser holds the Fair on the first Sunday in October. Four street segments close for the day: Market Street from Noe to Castro, Castro Street from Market to 19th Street, 18th Street from Diamond to Noe, and 17th Street from Castro to Noe.
The footprint is a walkable district. Group movement runs on the rail that stops inside it.
The rail stops inside the fairgrounds
Muni Metro's K Ingleside, L Taraval, M Ocean View and S Shuttle lines all stop at Castro Station, which the organiser places within the fairgrounds. The organiser states that taking Muni Metro to the Fair is highly recommended and points riders to SFMTA.com for the latest service information. A delegation that arrives by rail reaches a gate with no shuttle contract. The Fair is a smoke-free event.
The lodging a group desk books on the open market
The organiser publishes no room block, no host property, no group code, no room rate and no cut-off date. The Fair is produced by a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and its pages carry no housing instruction of any kind. A group that needs beds books the district on the open market for the night of October 4.
Engine puts the San Francisco average at $165 a night across 3.1M public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, on par rates. October averages $176, 7 percent above the city figure. September runs $192, March $197 and December $129, and 35 percent separates the cheapest month from the priciest. The city ranks 18th of 50 markets in that set, 11 percent above the $148 median.
The Entertainment Zone and its four bars
The Castro is an official Entertainment Zone. Guests aged 21 and over can take eligible to-go drinks through the activated Fair footprint, with no glass or metal containers. The rule reaches four official bar partners: Beaux, Copper Kitchen & Microbrewery, Midnight Sun and QBar. All four sit inside the Fair footprint and the Entertainment Zone.
The gate donation earns a 2026 sticker that takes $1 off drinks at those four partners for the day. The suggested gate donation is $10 to $20, and the organiser states that nobody is turned away for lack of funds. That pairing gives a group a published bar list and a discounted tab across the afternoon.
The gate model funds eleven partners
Gate money goes to the Fair's beneficiary partner organizations and to producing the Fair. Eleven 2026 beneficiary partners are named: Buen Dia Family School, Castro Community On Patrol, Everett Middle School PTSA, Imperial Council of San Francisco, Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Maitri Compassionate Care, Queer LifeSpace, Quest House Community Healing, San Francisco Spikes, San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocates and Stonewall Sports San Francisco.
Partners supply the volunteers who welcome guests and collect gate donations, and they take a share of the proceeds. Since 1998, the Fair reports more than $1.6 million distributed to local nonprofits. Volunteer registration for 2026 closes Sunday, October 4 at 12:00 p.m.
The after-party at the Castro Theatre
The Official Castro Street Fair After Party runs at the Castro Theatre on the same Sunday. Polyglamorous presents the night, with Octo Octa, BEYA and Mark O'Brien. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the show starts at 6:00 p.m., and the event is all ages. Tickets run $35.25 to $65.25 through Ticketmaster.
The 5:30 p.m. door opens 30 minutes before the Fair's 6:00 p.m. close, at a venue inside the same district as the footprint.
The scale lines the organiser publishes
The organiser publishes two scale lines. The exhibitor page reads thousands of attendees from all over the Bay Area, and hundreds of local artists, vendors, craftspeople and organizations. The 50th-anniversary release, dated 2024, quotes the then Board President on an estimated $8 million in total visitor impact for the prior year, benefiting retail, dining and hotels. The Fair publishes no attendance figure, no capacity figure and no gate count.
Sponsorship runs at every level, and the organiser invites corporate sponsors, local businesses, Castro bars and community partners. Exhibitor registration runs through Eventeny, with questions to vendors@castrostreetfair.org.
For a group desk, the file holds a seven-hour window, a rail station inside the site, a four-bar list under an Entertainment Zone rule, a named beneficiary roster and an after-party with a published door. The lodging side stays on the open market, and the rate basis for a Sunday night in October is Engine's $176 against the city's $165.
