Indianapolis Blocks 23 Hotels for the 2027 AFCA Convention

The AFCA convention runs 14-16 February 2027 at the Indiana Convention Center with 7,000 forecast attendance. Fastbreak Travel lists 23 block hotels from $139 to $264, with cut-off dates in January.

The convention and the walkable core

The American Football Coaches Association holds its 2027 convention and exhibit hall at the Indiana Convention Center on 14-16 February 2027. The AFCA exhibitor page describes the audience as "more than 7,000 coaches and support staff representing high school, college, and professional programs." The venue event page carries a forecast attendance of 7,000. Each figure has its own publisher.

The venue repeats one inventory block in the footer of its pages: 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, 4,700 rooms connected to the Convention Center by skywalk, 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance, and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport. The 4,700 connected rooms are 66.2 percent of the downtown total. A group that books inside that ring walks to the hall.

The bureau's second set of counts

Visit Indy publishes its own numbers. The bureau's "Why Meet in Indianapolis" page counts 12 hotels and 4,700 rooms connected by climate-controlled skywalks, and puts the airport 15 minutes from downtown with more than 1,000 weekly flights across 52 nonstop destinations. The bureau's meeting-hotels page counts more than 8,300 rooms downtown and more than 3,000 more in the pipeline.

The official block lists 23 hotels

The AFCA block runs through Fastbreak Travel at afca.fastbreaktravel.com/Event/9805/. The portal lists 23 properties, and every one sits in Indianapolis. Twenty-two publish a starting rate. The band runs from $139 at TRU by Hilton to $264 at Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, and the top rate is 1.90 times the lowest. JW Marriott Indianapolis carries a placeholder in its rate field.

Every listing takes a sub-block of 5 to 60 rooms, and a larger request routes through the portal's Create Group Room Block form. Event coordinator Tori Watson is listed, with a team line at (888) 290-3210.

Cut-off dates fall per property. Eight close on 14 January 2027, Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites closes on 21 January, and 14 close on 22 January.

Six properties state that one night's room and tax is due on or around 15 January 2027, collected by the hotel: Springhill Suites, Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, The Westin Indianapolis, Marriott Indianapolis Downtown, Fairfield Inn & Suites and JW Marriott. Signia by Hilton Indianapolis takes a nonrefundable night on or around 22 January. Three listings carry a two-night minimum: Omni Severin Hotel, Holiday Inn Indianapolis Downtown by IHG, and the combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House listing.

Distance to the hall runs from 0.145 miles at Signia by Hilton Indianapolis to 0.561 miles at Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis at the Capitol. The portal publishes that field per property.

The nights that carry the rooms

The block's published per-night inventory, read on 24 September 2026: 376 rooms for 12 February, 1,629 for 13 February, 1,823 for 14 February, 1,733 for 15 February and 433 for 16 February. The two convention nights hold the two largest counts in the block. Friday 12 February and Tuesday 16 February are the thin nights.

The portal sets its default date range to 14-17 February and prints one note beside it: "date range is set to the event dates, please adjust for your individual stay." The block's own window opens 8 February.

Attendance runs through membership

The AFCA FAQ states that convention attendance requires an active membership. Memberships run from 1 July to 30 June, and membership now includes convention registration. Annual dues are published by category: $400 for FBS head coaches, $175 for FBS assistant coaches, graduate assistants and others, $175 for FCS, Division II, Division III or NAIA head coaches and for pro, CFL, arena and pro-scout staff, $125 for FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA assistant coaches and for JUCO and high school coaches, and $125 to $300 for coaches not currently coaching this season. A guest pass is available to non-members through the AFCA office. A department that sends several staff books through the Membership Department at (254) 754-9900.

The housing portal carries the association's own profile: founded in 1921, based in Waco, Texas, more than 11,000 members.

The exhibitor clock

The exhibit hall occupies Halls B-E. The AFCA exhibitor FAQ gives the doors as 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on 14 February, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 15 February and 9 a.m. to noon on 16 February. The front page of the AFCA Agreement of Terms prints the Sunday close as 5 p.m. Move-in runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 12 February and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 13 February, and exhibitors check in by 6 p.m. Exhibitors hold a 90-minute preparation window on Sunday morning, 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Move-out begins at noon on 16 February.

The week around the convention

The venue event feed returns six dated records for 5-25 February 2027. The Indiana Health and Safety Conference and Expo runs 7-10 February, the Indiana Green Expo 8-10 February, the Core-Mark Expo 10-11 February, the Economic Club of Indiana Luncheon takes 12 February, the AFCA Convention 14-16 February, and the WWETT show 22-25 February. Four other shows fill the week before the convention opens.

What a planner takes from this

Book inside the block before the January cut-off. Check the two-night minimums before quoting a rate. The 4,700 skywalk-connected rooms are the walkable inventory, and the rest of downtown is the overflow. Confirm the rate, the deposit, the cut-off and the cancellation terms in writing with the hotel.
