The 30th TIAA Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament runs Tuesday 9 to Sunday 14 March 2027 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis. The bracket runs to seeds 1 through 18, so every conference member institution is in the field. The conference release sets a Tuesday opening among seeds 15 through 18, Wednesday second-round play for seeds 9 through 14, Thursday openers for seeds 5 through 8, Friday quarterfinals for the top four seeds, the semifinals Saturday and the title game Sunday.
Visit Indy gives the connected-hotel package as 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms attached to the Indiana Convention Center. The conference dates its final regular-season games to Sunday 7 March 2027, so the seed line that decides which day each fan base's team first plays follows two nights before the tournament opens.
The package the city publishes
Visit Indy's connected-hotel page states that the convention center expansion "boosts that number to 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms connected", and that the downtown pipeline will bring rooms within walking distance of the convention center to more than 10,000. The page's numbered roster runs ten lines covering twelve properties: JW Marriott Indianapolis 1,005 rooms, Signia Hilton Indianapolis 803, Indy Marriott 650, The Westin Indianapolis 575, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis 499, Embassy Suites Indianapolis Downtown 360, Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown Union Station 273, Conrad Indianapolis 247, Courtyard with SpringHill Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites 621 combined, and Le Meridien Indianapolis 100.
Those ten lines sum to 5,133 rooms against the page's own 5,200 headline. The Indiana Convention Center's footer publishes a third count for the same package: 4,700 rooms connected to the Center by skywalk.

The seed line and the block
The conference's regular season closes Sunday 7 March 2027, and the tournament opens Tuesday 9 March. Monday 8 March is the only night between the two.
A group working from the seed bands has four arrival dates. Seeds 15 through 18 first play Tuesday 9 March, seeds 9 through 14 Wednesday 10 March, seeds 5 through 8 Thursday 11 March, and the top four seeds Friday 12 March. A block that opens Tuesday covers all six rounds through the Sunday final. A block that opens Friday covers the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final.
What a group can contract against
The Signia by Hilton Indianapolis takes reservations for stays beginning 1 February 2027 on the Center's own news item of 21 April 2026, which places the tournament window inside its booking range. The item gives the property direct skywalk access to the convention center, with access to Lucas Oil Stadium and Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Visit Indy's roster gives the building 235,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 50,000-square-foot ballroom, and Bradford Allen places it beside a 143,500-square-foot expansion of the Indiana Convention Center.
The wider market carries 8.1 million room nights of demand in the 12 months to mid-2025 on CoStar data, more than 580,000 above the pre-COVID peak. Bradford Allen published those figures on 19 March 2026.
What is not published
No tournament room block, group rate, cut-off date or housing bureau appears on the conference release, on Visit Indy's connected-hotel page or on the Center's pages. The conference release states that tipoff times and television designations will be announced at a later date, so no session clock exists for any of the six days and a group block cannot be written against a start time.
