Dot Foods Books Indianapolis for Its 2027 National Business Meeting
A family-owned food redistributor has booked its national business meeting into Indianapolis. Dot Foods, Inc. holds the meeting at the Indiana Convention Center from Wednesday 27 January to Friday 29 January 2027. The venue forecasts 2,000 attendees on its event page. The building sits at 100 South Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
Dot Foods publishes nothing about the meeting. Its own site carries no mention of Indianapolis on the home page or the About page, and the venue's "Visit Event Website" link points at an empty anchor. A planner reading the venue page gets the dates, the building and the forecast.
The Group Behind the Booking
Dot Foods describes itself as family-owned and operated for more than 65 years. Co-founder Dorothy Tracy gave the company its name, and the third generation of the Tracy family runs it. The home page calls Dot Foods "North America's largest less-than-truckload consolidator in the food industry." Its redistribution service moves weekly multi-temperature deliveries through every channel of the food industry.
What 7,100 Downtown Rooms Give a Planner
The venue's own footer carries the city's inventory line: 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, 4,700 rooms connected to the Convention Center by skywalks, 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance, and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport. The venue's Facility Guide puts the same pair of figures apart, at 4,717 of downtown's 7,200 total hotel rooms connected by pedestrian skywalks.
Visit Indy, the city's convention bureau, publishes a wider set. Its meeting-hotels page gives 34,000 rooms in the metro, over 8,300 downtown with more than 3,000 in the pipeline, 4,700 rooms connected to the center at 12 hotels with 800 more in development, and 24 properties with 10,000 or more square feet of meeting space. Its connected-hotels page names the roster and gives 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms connected once the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis opens, with more than 10,000 rooms within walking distance after the wider pipeline delivers.
Read one publisher's count per claim. The venue and the bureau publish different totals for the same district.
The Facility Guide sets out the pedestrian route. The convention complex is directly linked to five of the city's luxury downtown hotels by skywalks and connected to seven other hotels through the Circle Centre shopping and entertainment complex. A 2,000-delegate group that books inside those five keeps its attendees indoors in late January.
Meeting Space and Group Dining
The building gives a corporate meeting room to work with: 566,600 square feet of contiguous exhibit space in 11 halls, 71 meeting rooms, 49 loading docks and three ballrooms, including the Sagamore Ballroom at 33,335 square feet. Sodexo Live! holds exclusive food and beverage rights at the complex, so banquet and reception catering runs through the venue's own caterer.
Programming Beyond the Meeting Room
A winter corporate group can build off-site time from the destination's own program list. The 10-mile Indianapolis Cultural Trail links the convention district to six cultural districts, and guided group tours run on foot, by bike and by food. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum runs guided track tours. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis holds the Riley Children's Health Sports Legends Experience, with private group access to 12 outdoor sports experiences. The Fountain Square Theatre Building holds the Midwest's only authentic duckpin bowling lanes. Penn & Beech on Mass Ave runs custom candle-making sessions.
The Signia Timing
A planner holding this January window should note one opening date. The venue's news item calls the new-build Signia by Hilton Indianapolis its newest headquarters hotel, on reservations for stays beginning 1 February 2027. The Dot Foods meeting closes on 29 January 2027, three days earlier.
Starting the RFP
Visit Indy takes both an uploaded and an online meeting RFP at its submit-rfp page, with sales@VisitIndy.com and 317.262.3000 as direct contacts. The bureau's office sits at 200 South Capitol Avenue, Suite 300. The bureau's planner tools list the group experiences above, so a planner can shortlist against the destination's own program in one pass.
The published record for this booking is thin: a company that says nothing publicly about the meeting, at a venue that publishes the dates, the building and the forecast. Those are the items a property has to work from, and 2,000 delegates is the number to plan against.
