Visit Austin published six city developments as a sponsored item on PCMA on 18 September 2026. The dates and counts below come from that item and from the venue releases it points to.
The convention center sets the outer date
The Austin Convention Center redevelopment trades as Unconventional ATX. The budget is $1.6 billion. The reopening target is 2029. The project targets the world's first Zero Carbon Certified convention center, an all-electric building on 100 percent renewable energy, and LEED Platinum.

Transatlantic service adds a fourth route
Delta starts nonstop Austin to Paris service in March 2027. British Airways, Lufthansa and KLM fly the airport's existing transatlantic routes.
Delta and Southwest are investing in Austin-Bergstrom International. The airport programme adds a terminal of 20-plus gates around 2030, with 12 more gates planned for 2030 to 2035.
Two downtown hotels land in one season
1 Hotel Austin opened on 3 September 2026 inside the Waterline tower, the tallest building in Texas. The property runs a rooftop pool and more than 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.
Hotel Trinity launches in late 2026 with 258 rooms. Marriott lists it as the only downtown Austin property in the Autograph Collection.
Venues for a reception or a general session
AEG Presents opens United Heritage Hall in spring 2027. The venue holds 4,000 people in roughly 65,000 square feet and anchors River Park, a 109-acre development in the Riverside neighbourhood.
Austin City Limits' Moody Theater takes intimate buyouts.
A walkable corridor links the district
Waterloo Greenway's second phase, called The Confluence, opened this summer. The 13-acre stretch runs along Waller Creek between 4th Street and Lady Bird Lake, carries an 800-foot boardwalk and links Rainey Street to the lake.
On Old Sixth Street, private restoration work brings restaurants to the street in 2027. Public streetscape construction starts the same year.
Health and research add midweek demand
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation committed $1 billion to create the UT Dell Campus for Advanced Research and the UT Dell Medical Center. The complex houses UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Ascension Seton Women's Hospital opened recently with 178 beds.

Hold the convention center date first. A programme that needs the expanded hall books from 2029 forward.
Book the hotels against the opening month. 1 Hotel Austin is open, and Hotel Trinity takes groups from late 2026.
Confirm each venue's commissioning date in writing before contract. United Heritage Hall opens in spring 2027, The Confluence opened this summer, and Old Sixth Street leases land through 2027.
Ask a destination management company which properties are open and which sites are announced. A contract needs a room count, a hold date and a signed rate.
