CANVAS 2026 Books Halls A1-B-C and a Block Closed in September

The agronomy, crop and soil science meeting runs 1-4 November at the Oregon Convention Center, with Halls A1-B-C booked from 30 October. The 10-plus room block closed on 14 September and the discounted individual rate deadline on 12 October.

CANVAS 2026 runs from Sunday 1 November to Wednesday 4 November at the Oregon Convention Center. The venue books Halls A1-B-C from Friday 30 October to cover move-in. The organiser prints "4,000+" attendance and requires registration. The meeting joins the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America.

October holds four events, and CANVAS is the last

The venue's October calendar returns four events. The Oregon Podiatric Medical Association takes Room F150-151 on 22-24 October. Functional Fabric Fair powered by Performance Days takes Halls B-C-D-E on 27-28 October. ZERO to THREE LEARN holds Hall A on 28-29 October. CANVAS takes Halls A1-B-C from 30 October.

Hall A turns over in a single day. ZERO to THREE clears on 29 October. CANVAS move-in starts on 30 October in the same hall.

The building a planner is quoting

The venue publishes 255,000 square feet of column-free exhibit hall space, 52 meeting rooms and two grand ballrooms. Its garage holds 800 spaces at $15 for up to 18 hours. Event entry runs $15 to $25 on a dynamic rate. The garage opens at 6:00 a.m., gives no in-and-out privileges and bars overnight parking. The building is cashless.

The block route closed on 14 September

Orchid Events is the only official housing provider for the meeting. Its page lists six hotels from 0.17 miles to 1.87 miles of the halls, with single rates from $184 to $255. A group needing 10 or more rooms used a block request form. That form closed on 14 September 2026. Room-block confirmation goes out within 7 to 10 business days.

The individual route has closed too. Reservations had to arrive by Monday 12 October 2026 at 10 p.m. EST to hold the listed rates. A cancellation between 22 September and 12 October carried a $40 fee. A cancellation after 12 October forfeits the one-night room and tax deposit the hotels charge from that date.

A group arriving on 1 November finds both routes shut. What remains is retail inventory at each hotel's own counter.

What the housing terms say about the societies' exposure

The housing page states the structure. The societies "commit to reserving a certain number of rooms with our partner hotels" to hold the rates. The page asks attendees to book inside the block and warns about unauthorised housing companies offering discounted rooms. A group leader contacted by one of those companies gathers the details and checks them with Orchid Events.

The first week of November for a destination team

The meeting carries four nights: 31 October and 1, 2 and 3 November. The two-day Bayesian Data Analysis workshop opens on Saturday 31 October from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and resumes on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. That puts a block of delegates in the city a day before the meeting opens. Sunday carries the arrival load of 4,000 delegates, and Wednesday 4 November carries the departure.

November is the tighter month

The venue's November calendar returns nine events. Halls A1-B-C stand empty on Thursday 5 November. The 2027 HBA Housing Forecast Breakfast takes Portland Ballroom 251-252-253-258 on 6 November. Oddities & Curiosities Expo holds Halls C-D-E on 7-8 November, and the NW Martial Arts Festival holds Hall A on 7 November. The Alzheimer's Association caregiver conference takes Portland Ballroom 251-254 and 257-258 on 10 November. Kumoricon holds Halls A-A1-B-C-D-E on 13-15 November. The ACE Awards take Portland Ballroom on 19 November. Major League Table Tennis holds Hall A on 20-22 November, and the Hoffman Annual Meeting and Dinner takes Oregon Ballroom 202-203 on 20-21 November. The USA Track and Field Annual Meeting holds Oregon Ballroom from 29 November to 7 December.

Two events share 7 November. Two share 20 November.

What to confirm before quoting

Ask Orchid Events whether any block rooms remain unsold and at what rate. The housing line is 888-307-6880, staffed Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST. A reservation made through it still earns hotel loyalty points, and acknowledgements arrive within 24 hours. Hotels issue no written confirmation.

Ask each hotel for its rate on the group's nights and for a cut-off and attrition term in writing. The venue's booking window ends on 4 November.
