Portland Holds One Stop on a 40-Plus City Tour
The Oddities & Curiosities Expo describes itself as a 40-plus city international tour. Its 2026 schedule lists 44 dated stops across the United States, Canada and Australia. Portland runs Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, in Halls C-D-E.
Two neighbours sit close on the calendar. Seattle ran 24 and 25 October, fourteen days earlier. Sacramento follows 14 and 15 November, six days later. A regional group that skips Portland finds another date inside a fortnight.
Fourteen Show Hours Across Two Days
Doors run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. The organiser's FAQ prints that clock once for the whole tour. The venue page carries the dates, the halls and the street address.
Saturday carries a second booking. The NW Martial Arts Festival 2026 fills Hall A on 7 November. Sunday holds this expo alone. Friday 6 November carries the 2027 HBA Housing Forecast Breakfast in Portland Ballroom 251-252-253-258.
The Rail Line Sells the Destination
MAX light rail stops 300 times a day at the venue's front door. The line reaches downtown, the surrounding neighbourhoods, the Oregon Zoo and Portland International Airport, which sits eight miles out. The Streetcar A Loop arrives at NE MLK and Hoyt every 15 minutes. Bus 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay and at NE MLK and Hoyt. The venue counts 566 metered spaces within three blocks and lists drop-off zones on MLK Blvd and Holladay Street.
Fifteen hotels sit within 1.2 km of the doors on OpenStreetMap records, and eight of those sit within 645 m. The nearest stands 225 m away. A property inside that ring sells the rail line and skips the shuttle contract.
The Gate a Group Pays
The organiser publishes one admission figure and one channel. A ticket costs $20 at the door, paid in cash or by card. Children 12 and under enter free and hold no ticket. A ticket stays valid until scanned, works on either day, and covers one day only.
The arithmetic follows the ticket rule. Twenty adults attending both days buy forty tickets and pay $800. Twenty adults attending one day pay $400. Two adults with two children under 12 pay $40.
Classes Extend the Show Day
The organiser lists six classes for USA and Canada dates, and each class ticket carries admission to the floor. Two taxidermy classes run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sunset moth and the octopus and tentacle globe wet specimen run 10 a.m. to noon. The scorpion habitat and the ratalope coffin fill 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Class options vary by city and by day.
Age rules gate the programme. No student under 13 enters a taxidermy workshop. A student under 16 needs a guardian who buys a ticket and follows the class. Approval comes by email to the instructors in advance, and an unapproved student is turned away at the door without a refund. Students arrive 15 minutes early. Class tickets are non-refundable.
A Friday-to-Monday Package
Friday arrival and Monday departure is three nights. The fair anchors two of them. Friday night sets up the 10 a.m. Saturday open. Saturday night sets up the 10 a.m. Sunday open.
Sunday closes at 5 p.m. The garage prohibits overnight parking. The venue's next dated booking is the Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Conference on 10 November. Quote two nights to the fair. Quote the third night to Portland.
What the Building Charges
The underground garage holds 800 spaces at $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privileges. A dynamic $15 to $25 is charged at entry on event days, and the garage generally opens at 6:00 a.m. RVs, campers and trucks with trailers are excluded. Overnight parking is prohibited.
The venue takes cards and touchless payment across food and beverage, parking, lockers and vending. The expo door takes cash. Five ATMs sit inside the building, and a reverse ATM in the MLK Lobby loads a Visa card once with a cash credit, fee free.
Coach Terms a Group Must Settle
No page on the venue's attend or plan sections assigns motorcoach parking, and no coach rate appears there. A group arriving by coach settles that term before it signs.
The Block a Group Desk Writes
No room block, no rate and no cut-off appear on any organiser page read today, and no property is named there. The group desk writes its own contract and sets its own cut-off.
What a Proposal Carries
An attendance count, a vendor count and a group rate have no carrier on the pages read today. A proposal builds its draw figure from the party's own numbers and says so.
