Sigep World Sets a 1,000-Buyer Target for 2027

Sigep World 2027 runs 23-27 January at Rimini Expo Centre and targets more than 1,000 top buyers, up from 502 in 2026 who generated 5,851 business meetings.

The buyer target for the 2027 edition

Sigep World aims to double its intake of top buyers at the 2027 edition, from 502 in 2026 to more than 1,000. The 48th edition runs 23 to 27 January 2027 at Rimini Expo Centre. The show covers gelato, pastry, bakery, pizza, chocolate and coffee.

How the hosted-buyer programme ran in 2026

The 2026 edition drew 1,300 brands across 138,000 square metres in 30 halls, with operators from 160 countries and almost one visitor in four from abroad. Foreign exhibitor numbers rose 33 per cent. The 502 top buyers came from 74 countries and generated 5,851 business meetings.

The Italian Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation bring those delegations to Rimini. Both agencies increase their commitment for 2027.

What changes on the floor

The organisers name travel catering and the luxury hospitality sector as the focus for 2027. The programme adds a guest country, an international pavilion, foreign delegations and international business matchmaking. Vietnam takes the guest country role with a government delegation, in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency and ICHAM.

The competitions and the equipment halls

The Kitchen Equipment Hub and the Digital District return for foodservice technology, robotics and digital services. The Gelato World Cup Europe Selection runs with eight nations competing for a place in the 2028 final. The Bakery World Cup runs as Bread in the City with the Richemont Club, seven Italian Barista Championships run with the SCA, and the Pizza Club hosts events with 50TOP Pizza.

The demand the organisers read

IEG puts Vietnamese out-of-home foodservice revenue at 24.8 billion dollars in 2025 and 45.2 billion dollars by 2031, a 10 per cent annual increase. Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee producing country and the leading exporter of Robusta, with exports up 58.8 per cent.

Claudio Pica, general secretary of the Italian Gelato-makers' Association, estimated Italian gelato consumption up 2 per cent by volume in the 2026 season. The association has more than 3,800 member businesses. Ilaria Cicero, global exhibition director of IEG's Food & Beverage Division, said the enlarged buyer programme marks a transformation of the show and its network.
