A Volunteer-Run Convention Fills Six OCC Halls in Mid-November

Kumoricon holds Halls A through E at the Oregon Convention Center from 13 to 15 November, with four published hotel rates and a room block that closed on 21 October.

Six halls on the November calendar

Kumoricon runs 13 to 15 November at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. The venue lists Halls A, A1, B, C, D and E for the run.

The organiser is Altonimbus Entertainment, an Oregon nonprofit public benefit 501(c)(3). Its materials describe the convention as fully volunteer-run, board and executive staff included. The first Kumoricon ran in 2003.

The 2025 edition closed with 11,714 paid members and 660 staff. The 2024 edition closed with 11,954 paid members and 626 staff, or 19.1 paid members per staff member. The organiser counts unique individuals, and it reports no turnstile figure.

The block closed on 21 October

Four properties carry official rates. Hyatt Regency Portland at 375 NE Holladay St lists $235 a night at 0.1 miles. Courtyard Portland Downtown/Convention Center at 435 NE Wasco St lists $214 at 0.2 miles. Hotel Eastlund at 1021 NE Grand Ave lists $199 at 0.1 miles. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Portland at 1000 NE Multnomah St lists $185 at 0.4 miles.

Reservations for those blocks closed on 21 October 2026, 23 days before the Friday doors. The organiser prints one warning beside the date: its blocks often sell out before the cut-off.

Three terms sit beside the cut-off. A card holds the room and goes uncharged until arrival. A change or cancellation carries no fee at 72 hours or more before check-in. Altonimbus may receive a small portion of a reservation fee, and rooms booked direct may not count toward block participation.

The organiser routes hotel questions to its hotel team address and states that it cannot view or change an individual reservation. Changes go to the property. When a room type disappears from a search, the block has sold out of that type.

The top rate inside a busy month

The venue's November calendar carries nine events, and bookings touch 17 of the month's 30 days. The 6th carries the HBA Housing Forecast Breakfast in the Portland Ballroom. The 7th and 8th carry the Oddities and Curiosities Expo in Halls C-D-E and the NW Martial Arts Festival in Hall A. The 10th puts the Alzheimer's Association caregiver conference in the Portland Ballroom. The 19th to 22nd carries the ACE Awards, Major League Table Tennis in Hall A and the Hoffman annual meeting in the Oregon Ballroom. The USA Track and Field annual meeting opens on 29 November and runs to 7 December.

The $235 rate is the highest of the four, and it sits 27 percent above the $185 rate before tax. Across two nights the taxed gap reaches $116.50 at the 16.5 percent occupancy tax the organiser prints.

The weekend before Kumoricon and the weekend after both carry bookings.

The staff booking notice

The hotels page tells 2026 staff that booking instructions and the staff rate arrive in the near future, by email from the hotel team. No rate, no cut-off and no room count accompanies the notice.

A group planner can read four member rates and no staff rate.

Where the group grows before 2027

Two dates shape the next edition. Room blocks shut on 21 October, 17 days before badge pre-registration closes. The last online tier, Ghost Neko, runs through 7 November, and at-the-door pricing follows. A full weekend badge costs $95 through 7 November and $100 at the door.

The hall set fixes the other limit. Kumoricon holds every designation in the venue's exhibit-hall block for 13 to 15 November, A through E, so a larger edition on that weekend needs more days or a different weekend.

Two figures sit unpublished, and both feed a group budget. The organiser prints no attendance forecast for 2026 and no staff rate. A planner quoting either has nothing to quote.

The volunteer structure is the steady part. Altonimbus runs the convention on volunteers at every level, and the 2025 crew of 660 served 11,714 paid members.
