One day in six rooms
The Alzheimer's Association Oregon Chapter runs its 28th annual caregiver conference on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, in Portland Ballroom 251-254 and 257-258 at the Oregon Convention Center. Six rooms. One day. The clock runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The chapter dates the conference to nearly 30 years of education and training for family and professional caregivers.
The number behind the audience
The chapter puts more than 192,000 Oregonians in the unpaid caregiver column, each caring for a person living with Alzheimer's or other dementia. That figure counts a statewide population. The conference serves the family and professional caregivers inside it.
What a six-room footprint sets
A ballroom let for one day sets the shape of the programme. The chapter fills the rooms with a keynote on Alzheimer's and dementia research, flexible breakout sessions and a luncheon presentation. Lunch comes with registration.
Neither the venue calendar nor the chapter's page publishes an attendance figure for the conference.
The free tier decides the travel
The first 250 Oregon family caregivers attend at no cost, paid by Oregon Care Partners. A registrant selects Oregon Family Caregiver at registration, must live in Oregon, and takes a place on a first-come, first-served basis.
That condition sets the room-night pattern. A free seat tied to Oregon residency draws drive-in arrivals, and drive-in arrivals book no beds. The paid ladder reads $100 for professionals and the general public, with reduced rates for students. Payment is by credit card at registration.
6.5 CEUs are available to professionals who register under the General Public option and live in Oregon. The family-caregiver registration carries no CEUs.
A happy hour follows the day's programming. A planner pricing a bed for a delegate needs that line, because the day ends on site rather than at the 5 p.m. close.
The partner line is the budget line
AARP Oregon, Oregon Care Partners and the Oregon Dementia and Healthy Brain Initiative appear as community partners. Charter Mechanical, Home Matters Solutions and Axsome appear as exclusive sponsors.
A sponsor-funded free tier pays for attendance the chapter could not otherwise fund, and it spends that money inside Oregon. The paid tier carries the delegate who travels.
The destination layer
TriMet's MAX light rail stops 300 times a day near the venue's front door. Portland Streetcar's A Loop arrives at NE MLK and Hoyt every 15 minutes at the main entrances, and Bus Line 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay. PDX sits eight miles out.
Supply sits close. A count of named hotels within 1,200 metres of the venue address returns 14 on a 25 October OpenStreetMap read. Six sit inside 700 metres: the Inn at the Convention Center on NE Holladay at 313 metres, the Hyatt Regency on NE Holladay at 357, Hotel Eastlund on NE Grand at 377, the Quality Inn on NE Multnomah at 529, the Courtyard on NE Wasco at 605 and the DoubleTree on NE Multnomah at 686.
The venue garage holds 800 spaces and prohibits overnight parking. A delegate arriving by car parks at the hotel.
The venue month around 10 November
The venue calendar lists nine bookings in November 2026. This conference is the only one on 10 November. The nearest neighbours are the HBA Housing Forecast Breakfast on 6 November, the Oddities & Curiosities Expo and the NW Martial Arts Festival across 7 and 8 November, and Kumoricon opening 13 November. Monday 9 and Wednesday 11 stand empty.
What the file does not hold
The chapter's conference page reads "2026 Agenda Coming Soon". No session grid, no breakout titles and no luncheon time.
Registration is required. The chapter's own listing and its flyer both open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. The 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900 takes a registration by phone.
Three facts carry the case for a destination planner: 192,000 unpaid caregivers in the state, a partner-funded free tier that fills the room with Oregon residents, and a paid tier that fills the Monday night. The agenda is the one piece still owed.
